John Prevatt was a son of Richard White's great great great great grandfather, Thomas Prevatt.

John Prevatt was a great uncle of my great great grandmother Clarissa Prevatt Davis.  He was born in Robeson County, North Carolina, on 20 November 1810, was married to Mary Bullock, and was the father of Charles Prevatt.  He served in Company A, 49th North Carolina Infantry Regiment.  He was disability discharged in October 1862 with "Bright's Disease" (an inflamation of the kidneys) and chronic bronchitis, survived the war, and died in Robeson County in August 1896.
